The Sunshine Castle is medieval museum/tourist attraction and function venue.

It promotes history, encourages education and facilitates unique celebrations.

Much in the tradition of Castles all around the world the Sunshine Castle captures the imagination of old and young alike.

A stand out landmark in this location this Norman style Castle, with medieval additions, complete with moat, turrets, towers and drawbridge is totally unique in Australia.
The Castle is filled with medieval displays and other exhibitions that you are able to explore at your own pace in a self walk tour. Wander over the drawbridge into another time and feast with Kings in the Great Hall or squalor in shame in the dungeon. The Castle keep is a 24 metre look out tower that offers stunning views from Coast to Hinterland.
An interactive treasure hunt for children and the young at heart with the opportunity to get dressed up in themed head gear leads to a free treat from the King’s treasure chest. A history shields tour offers detailed information on the medieval elements of the Castle and history.

Resident Knight Sir Justyn entertains and educates the crowds every first and third Saturday of the month and every day during the Queensland School Holidays.  Amongst other activities  he regularly offers Junior Jousting, Archery or Canon fire or weapons displays and other medieval displays as well as a selection of educational and historical talks and presentations in the Castles Great Hall all free with regular admission prices.

Originally built in 1972 the Castle has grown over time and had three freehold owners. First opened by a Scotsman for his wifes dolls and fairytales as the Fairytale Castle, it has also been known as the Bli Bli Castle, since 2006 the Castle has had a transformation and now offers a medieval museum experience with only some of the dolls and fairytales still in action.

The Castle also hosts children’s birthdays, a special school holiday program, weddings, private and corporate functions, special events and festivals as well as school workshops.  A selection of talented local entertainers are available to add flair to all of the functions including fire breathers, belly dancers, wandering minstrels, magicians, theatre dinner performers, childrens entertainers and more. In Partnership with the Underground Opera Company the Castle also hosts 3 shows of ‘Opera in the Castle’ on the last weekend in March and October very year.
